What is a Car Seat Check?
A car seat check is an in-person appointment where your child’s car seat is evaluated to ensure it is the right type, installed correctly, and adjusted properly for your child and vehicle.Aren’t Car Seats Safe Out of the Box?
Car seats are designed to protect children, but even small installation or harnessing mistakes are common. These errors can reduce safety in a crash. A professional check helps ensure your child is as safe as possible. Can I Just Do This Myself or Take It to a Fire or Police Station?
I highly recommend having your seat checked by a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST). If you choose to do it yourself, read your car seat and vehicle manuals carefully. While some free community services exist, many fire and police stations no longer offer inspections. My service offers convenience, personalization, and extended time to fully cover all necessary information in your home. What is a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST)?
CPSTs undergo multi-day training developed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the National Child Passenger Safety Board, and Safe Kids Worldwide. Training covers car seat types, installation methods, vehicle differences, and proper harnessing. Technicians maintain certification through ongoing education and installation reviews every two years. When Should I Schedule a Car Seat Check?
A check is recommended before your baby arrives (30-35 weeks is great), after installing a new seat, when a child moves to a new stage (infant rear facing seat → convertible → booster), or any time you want peace of mind.Who Should Get a Car Seat Check?
Car seat checks are helpful for families at every stage — from newborns to booster riders — and for grandparents or caregivers who transport children. -

What Happens During a Car Seat Check?
Your car seat and vehicle setup are reviewed, adjustments are made as needed, and you are guided step by step to ensure proper installation and use. We will go over car seat safety basics and best practices. Using your child or a stuffed animal, we will go over proper harnessing. You will have time to ask questions and any follow up questions can be answered over the phone, text or email. How Long Does an Appointment Take?
Most single-seat appointments take 30–45 minutes. Multiple seats and Expectant Parent sessions take longer (60-90 minutes) to cover everything thoroughly. What Should I Have Ready for the Appointment?
Have your car seat and vehicle available. A child is helpful but not required — a stuffed animal can be used if your baby hasn’t arrived yet. Car seat manuals, vehicle manuals, and your child’s height/weight are helpful but optional.Should My Car Seat Be Installed Before the Appointment?
It’s entirely up to you — installation before the appointment is not required. Even if your seat is already installed, during the check we will remove it and start from the beginning to ensure everything is set up safely and correctly.
Will You Install the Car Seat for Me?
You will be guided step by step. The goal is for you to feel confident installing and using the seat correctly on your own.Can I Ask Questions During the Visit?
Absolutely. There are no silly questions when it comes to car seats. Questions are encouraged so you leave feeling informed and confident. What if the Weather Is Bad?
Appointments typically proceed as scheduled. If you don’t have a covered area and bad weather is expected, let me know in advance. As needed, we can meet in a covered location, such as a store parking garage, to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

What is a car seat selection appointment?
A car seat selection appointment is a personalized, one-on-one service where I help you choose the right car seat for your child and your vehicle before you buy anything. Instead of guessing based on online reviews or store shelves, you get expert guidance based on your child’s age, size, your car, and your budget.
Is this appointment virtual or in person?
Seat selection appointments are typically virtual, so you can get expert help from anywhere.
Who is this service good for?
This service is perfect for:
Expecting parents
Parents upgrading from an infant seat
Families moving to a convertible or booster
Families trying to fit three car seats across
Anyone overwhelmed by all the car seat options
Anyone who wants to make sure they don’t waste money on the wrong seat
If you’re thinking, “I have no idea what to buy,” this service is for you.
How is this different from a regular car seat check?
A car seat check happens after you already own a seat.
A seat selection appointment happens before you buy — so you don’t end up stuck with a seat that doesn’t fit your child or your vehicle.Because I can’t physically try the seat in your car during a selection appointment, I can’t guarantee it will fit until it’s installed. That’s why families who book a seat selection can also book a discounted car seat check to confirm everything fits safely.
What do I need for my appointment?
Nothing!
During our call, I’ll ask a series of questions about your child, your vehicle, and your family’s preferences. I’ll do all the research for you and get back to you within a few days with your personalized recommendations. How long does the process take?
We’ll start with a 20-minute phone call to get to know your child, your car, and your needs.
After that, you’ll receive a follow-up email or phone call (your choice) with your car seat recommendations. Can this save me money?
Absolutely. Many families buy the wrong seat and end up replacing it. This service helps you get it right the first time.
